Ghana Service Trip – January 10 to 20

Posted in News and tagged: ,

Our tickets and travel visas are in order, and in just a few days we hope to be on our way to Ghana. Please pray for our group of eight as we go!

Pursuing The Vision

We believe God has a plan for this farm and we are committed to carrying it out as He directs. Our vision is to see the farm develop into a training ground for young men, providing agricultural training and experience, but also Bible and business management teaching. We are depending on God to raise up dedicated leaders, teachers, volunteers, and supporters to make this happen! If you feel God laying these needs on your heart, we urge you to contact us!

Building Fences

One area of the farm that has been a great success is our beef cattle program. Since we started several years ago with 10 thin, sickly cows, our herd has grown to more than 25 productive and healthy animals! Now, for the first time, we have some cattle ready to sell and we are still increasing our herd. The original 10 cows were given to the farm by a donor in the USA, but they have provided countless teachable experiences to our students and workers. We are blessed and thankful!

One of the main goals of our trip to Ghana is constructing new fences for our cattle. The original fence posts were made from coconut trees, but despite being treated, most have rotted away. This time we’ll be using a different type of wood for the posts which we hope will last much longer. We will also be using barbed wire rather than electric fence because all the materials are produced and available in Ghana, and we hope it will be easier to maintain. In addition to the fence, we will be addressing other maintenance issues on the buildings and equipment.

We are blessed and very thankful for the construction professionals that have volunteered to join us on this trip!

Building Relationships

Even more important than the physical work, is the ministry of training, mentoring, and encouraging. It is our goal to empower our workers with the skills they need to continue to build fences on their own. Pray that we can be a blessing and encouragement to them!

Finally, we are praying that God will lead us to visionary, dedicated Ghanaian people who share our passion for empowering and training young men through agriculture.
